Obituary

Susan (Allen) Bowman, loving wife, cherished mother, and a devoted teacher passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, March 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 25, 1977, Susan’s life was a testament to faith, kindness, and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

A graduate of Southern Methodist College in Orangeburg, Susan earned her bachelor’s degree with pride and purpose. She spent over 22 years teaching at Wesley Christian School, where she found immense joy in nurturing young minds in grades K through second grade. Her love for teaching was matched only by her passion for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and studying the word of God. Those who knew Susan admired her very caring and down-to-earth personality, qualities that made her not just a teacher, but a beloved mentor and friend.

Outside of the classroom, Susan delighted in simple pleasures that reflected her gentle spirit. She loved thrifting—a hobby that brought her joy and allowed her to embrace each find with a sense of wonder. Eating was also one of her hearty pleasures, highlighting her appreciation for the good things in life. Yet, above all, Susan’s proudest accomplishments were her children, Jonah and Lydia Bowman, who were the center of her heart and her greatest source of pride.

Susan shared 24 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Thomas Bowman, Jr., who stood by her side through all seasons. She also leaves behind her parents, Lonnie and Song Young Cha Allen, along with one sister and three brothers, her father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Shelby Bowman, Sr.

The community will gather to honor Susan’s memory with a visitation on March 20, 2026, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Both services will be held at Bull Swamp Baptist Church, located at 4408 Redmond Mill Road in North, South Carolina. These moments will be a time to remember Susan’s unwavering faith, her loving guidance, and the warmth she radiated to everyone around her.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Susan's memory to the General Fund at Wesley Christian School at 2456 Broughton Street Orangeburg, S.C. 29115.

Susan (Allen) Bowman’s life was a beautiful journey marked by devotion to God, family, and education. Though she has left this world, the lessons she imparted, the love she shared, and the memories she created will remain forever treasured in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy endures as a beacon of hope and compassion, inspiring those she leaves behind to walk in her footsteps with grace and kindness.
