Sylvia Rickenbaker Crider , 88, of St. Matthews passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Congaree Baptist Church near St. Matthews. Burial will follow at Congaree Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Wayne Golden and Rev. Nick Fox will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Tomlinson, Brent Walling, Erik Burkhart, Don Rickenbaker, Dexter Rickenbaker and Kenneth Heckle
She was born December 12, 1927 in St. Matthews, SC; the daughter of the late Varnie Rickenbaker and the late Everleen Heckle Rickenbaker. A lifelong member of Congaree Baptist Church, she held many positions in the church through the years. Mrs. Crider was also a member of the BPOE Elks Does. She and her husband were the owners of Crider’s Red and White in St. Matthews. She also worked for Billy Dent Insurance Company and was a volunteer at the Calhoun County Library. Mrs. Crider loved to travel. She was the widow of the late Harry Cecil “Skeet” Crider.
Survivors include 3 daughters; Beverly (Lanier) Walling of St. Matthews; Violet (Simons) Hane of Columbia and Vickie (Joey) Tomlinson of St. Matthews; 3 grandchildren; Brent (Laura) Walling of St. Matthews; Lindsey (Erik) Burkhart of Gaston and Kyle (Liz) Tomlinson of St. Matthews; 6 great grandchildren; H.B., Holden, Sara Nell and Joy Walling, Lila and William Burkhart; 2 step grandsons, Simons (Amy) Hane, Jr. of Beaufort; Darby (Katie) Hane of St. Matthews; 2 step great granddaughters; Molly Catherine and Shay Hane.
Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at her residence.
