Teddy Leroy Knight, Sr., 73,  passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, S.C.  Funeral services will be held at  2:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at  Columbia Road Church of God in Orangeburg. Burial will follow at Two Mile Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery near Bolentown.  Bishop G.W. Gleaton will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be John Cecil Knight, Randy Knight, Dave Helvey, Mark Walker, Pinky Christopher, Joe Bare, Daniel Murray, Jr., Rachel Lerae Murray, Richard Reagan Knight, Garrison Ted Knight and Emmett Robert Knight

Honorary Pall Bearers will be Tommy Bowman, James “Barney” Barnes, Lynn "Dirty Rich" Richard, Bob Brinson and Glenn Davis

Mr. Knight was born on December 12, 1942.  He was the son of the late Richard Leroy Knight and the late Iris Lee Craft Knight.  He was a graduate of Orangeburg High School where he played football and ran track for the Orangeburg Indians.  He was on the Gold State Team when State Championships were won in football, basketball and track.  Mr. Knight served in the United States Navy on the USS Thornback as a torpedoman.  He was a veteran during the Vietnam War era.  He was a member of the Bolentown Fire Department, the V.F.W., N.R.A. and Cornerstone Church of God.  Mr. Teddy was an avid fisherman and became a “fisher of men.”  He was an American Patriot and had a passion for his children, his grandchildren and the love of his life, his wife.  He was predeceased by a son, Teddy Leroy Knight, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Johnson Knight of Orangeburg; daughter Rhonda Knight Murray (Rev. Danny) of Simpsonville; son Richard Leroy Knight II (Christi P.) of Catawba; 5 grandchildren, Daniel Murray, Jr., Rachel Lerae Murray, Richard Reagan Knight, Garrison Ted Knight and Emmett Robert Knight; 2 brothers, John “Johnny” Cecil Knight (Paulette) of North and Randall “Randy” Knight (Ann) of North; 2 sisters Linda Forde of Orangeburg and Diane Lee of Lexington; special nieces, nephews and aunts and other members of our special family, Deborah Walker, Delene Fogle, Russell Jackson, Jr.,  Susan Helvey,  Stephanie Lee Gates and Tommy Bowman ; a beloved God given pet named “Spot.”

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home in Orangeburg.
