Obituary

Terry felt most at peace in Beaufort, feeling a special connection to its waters.

Terry Charles Whisenhunt, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the age of 47. Born on April 3, 1979, in Orangeburg to George and Faye Whisenhunt.

Terry leaves behind his wife of over 21 years, Christyna H. Whisenhunt. Terry’s pride and joy were his children: Maddox, Christian, and Farah. His love for them was unparalleled, and he considered being their father to be his proudest accomplishment.

Terry’s mother, Faye Whisenhunt, also survives him and feels his absence profoundly, as do his niece Megan Whisenhunt and his nephew Dalton Whisenhunt, who both cherished their special relationships with him. The Whisenhunt family is comforted by the fond memories of family gatherings, shared stories, and laughter that Terry inspired in all who knew him.

His family mourns not only their great loss but also remembers Terry's father, George Whisenhunt, and twin brother, Trevor Lee Whisenhunt and brother, Trey Whisenhunt, who preceded him in death.

Terry was a highly accomplished individual in his profession, dedicating over 30 years to Cable Craft. During his illustrious career, his colleagues regarded him as a master of his craft, renowned for both his knowledge and his willingness to help others. Terry's expertise as a Master Mechanic was honed at college, where he earned his qualification with Toyota—a point of great pride for him and his family.

Beyond his career, Terry’s true passions blossomed in other areas. He was, at heart, a craftsman and an enthusiast, particularly when it came to working on cars. To many who knew him, the sound of engines and the sight of Terry under the hood were fixtures of his life. These pursuits were more than hobbies; they represented the deep sense of satisfaction he found in building, fixing, and perfecting the things he loved.

Terry felt most at peace in Beaufort, feeling a special connection to its waters. Whether seeking moments of reflection or adventure on the water, Beaufort remained a source of rejuvenation and tranquility throughout his life. In addition, his generosity was well-known in his community, to which he contributed as a volunteer with Fishing for Friends.

The family would like to invite friends and loved ones to gather in Terry’s memory at a visitation to be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 1012 Whitman St SE, Orangeburg, SC 29115. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Congaree Baptist Church on Belleville Road, Orangeburg, SC, followed by burial at West End Cemetery, Harry Raysor Drive, St. Matthews, SC 29135.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Maddox Whisenhunt, Christian Whisenhunt, Dalton Whisenhunt, Lawrence Childs, Tim Judy, and Wayne Fulmer.

Honorary pallbearer will be Casey Owen.

Terry Charles Whisenhunt leaves behind an enduring legacy of hard work, cheerful generosity, and profound devotion to his family. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
