Thelma Bennett Dukes, 84 of 1326 Old Elloree Road; Orangeburg died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.
****The Casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service **** Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Four Holes Baptist Church in Orangeburg with burial in the church cemetery with Rev. Thomas McElhaney and R.L. Zeigler, Director of Music. directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
She was born March 25, 1929 in Colleton County, SC; the daughter of the late John Wesley Bennett and the late Ethel Craven Bennett. She retired from Orangeburg Nursing Home at age 79 as a registered nurse. She was the widow of the late Clarence Paul "Pete" Dukes. She was preceded in death by a son; Larry P. Dukes; 2 brothers; Olin Bennett and John Wesley Bennett, Jr. and a sister-in-law; June Bennett.
SURVIVORS include 2 daughters; Linda D. Geddings (Rodney) of Orangeburg; Elizabeth A. Dukes of Orangeburg; a sister-in-law; Rita Bennett of Walterboro; 2 brothers; Thomas Bennett (Margaret) and Roy A. Bennett (Bobby) all of Walterboro; a number of nieces and nephews and step grandchildren.
FRIENDS MAY CALL AT the residence; 1326 Old Elloree Road; Orangeburg and at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.
