Tommie Ray Ulmer, 77, of Orangeburg passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Tommie was born on June 10, 1947, in Orangeburg, S.C. He was the son of the late Raymond Ulmer, Jr. and the late Bessie Johnson Ulmer. He was a 1965 graduate of Bowman High School. After high school he enlisted in the Army National Guard of South Carolina in the 1052 Trans Company. Tommie was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church is Jamison, S.C. He was also a member of Knights Templar, Orangeburg Commandery No 9, Eureka Chapter 13, Royal Arch Masons of Orangeburg, Petros Council #11-Royal and Select Masters of Orangeburg, Life Member of Progress Masonic Lodge #356 and the Omar Shrine Temple in Mt. Pleasant. He worked in construction for many years. Once he retired, he enjoyed woodworking, traveling and going on cruises. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew, Kenneth Scott Black.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty Bolin Ulmer; sister, Faye Ulmer Simpson; nieces, Candy Hope Martin, Sandy Faith Black, Karen E. Buck; brother and sister-in-law, Ken Bolin (Cheryl) and many additional great nieces and great nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Edisto Home Care and Hospice and an additional special thank you to Danielle, Tabitha, Mandy, Margaret and Marianne for the love and care that was given to Tommie.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, 4830 Columbia Road, Orangeburg. Rev. David Royster will be officiating.
