Tommy Lee Nivens, 72, passed away at home on April 25, 2026.
Born on August 2, 1953 in Charlotte, N.C. He was the son of the late Kirk N. and Jessie Stone Nivens.
Tommy was a much loved husband, father and grandfather. Family was his greatest accomplishment, always putting them first. He was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed hunting with his grandchildren and sharing their pictures. Cooking was one of his specialities that family and friends got to enjoy.
He also enjoyed time spent with his son, daughter-in-law and his extended family in North Dakota hunting and making wonderful memories. He was proud to be known as “one of the good ole boys.” Remembering and telling tales about the good times they shared growing up. His memory will live on with everyone that knew him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Jimmy NIvens; four brothers-in-law, Calvin, Aaron, Harry, and Doug Garrett; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Garrett.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Nivens; his son, Lee Nivens (Alaina); his grandchildren, Addison Nivens and Levi Nivens; his brother, Kirk Nivens (Anita); his sisters-in-law, Carol Croft (Reggie), Jimmie Garrett, Judy Williams (Gerald), Janice Nivens, and a number of loving nieces and nephews.
