Tony Leroy Varn

Tony Leroy Varn, 69, of Bowman passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Tony was born in Denmark, S.C. He was the son of the late Joe L. Varn and the late Dorothy Johnston Varn.  He retired from Savannah River Site with over 30 years of service.  Tony enjoyed fishing, camping, going on cruises and traveling but his greatest love was spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 41 years, Cathy Bloodworth Varn; daughters, Farah Lee (Tim), Jenna Smith (Jay); grandchildren, Carmen Burgess (Aaron), Phillip Lee, Aidan Collins, Adam Smith; great-granddaughter, Lennon Burgess; sister, Shirley Chesser; sister-in-law, Penny Cochran; nephews, Eddie Chesser, Scott Chesser, Jessie Cochran (Ashley), Curt Bloodworth; his beloved fur baby, “Sophie” and a number of great nieces and great nephews and additional family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Grove Park Hospice for the love, special care and respect that was given to them and Tony during these last difficult days.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-6:30 P.M. on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Wightman Methodist Church,  7215 Charleston Highway, Bowman.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Wightman Methodist Church immediately following the visitation. Pastor Mary Lou Everhart will be officiating.
