Virginia (Felkel) Lawhon

Virginia Felkel Lawhon, 78, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 in Darlington, South Carolina.

Born on February 7, 1947, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Virginia was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene D. and Katherine Arant Felkel. She grew up in a close-knit family and carried the values of kindness and generosity throughout her life.

Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Monroe Lawhon; her parents; and her sister, Lois Grimes. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Billie Schumann (John) and Katherine Stephens, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were touched by her warmth and selflessness.

A woman of many joys, Virginia had a deep love for music. She found great happiness singing in the choir and sharing her voice with others. Her passion for music was matched by her enjoyment of playing bingo—a pastime that brought her both fun and fellowship.

Virginia’s selfless nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Whether through a kind word or a thoughtful gesture, she consistently put others before herself.
