Walter Alan Light, 78 of Orangeburg died Friday, October 21, 2016 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. A Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 26, 2016 prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Jericho United Methodist Church near Cameron. Rev. Roger Goupil and Rev. Jack Gibson will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites.
Mr. Light was born April 5, 1938 in Syracuse, New York; a son of the late Walter Kenton Light and the late Oma Weatherman Light. He served in the U. S. Air Force, served in Libya he was a Cold War Veteran. He was retired from Naval Electronics He was a member of Jericho United Methodist Church; he served as a lay servant, a member of Neighbor to Neighbor, the community discretionary fund and was one of the lay members to attend the Methodist Annual Conference. He was a scout master for the boy scouts. He received The Order of Arrow; Past Master of Friendship #9 in Charleston, a member of Scottish Rites and was District Deputy Grand Master. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin Michael Albro.
Survivors include his wife; Anne H. Light of Orangeburg; a daughter; Sherri and Robert Albro of Zionsville, PA; a son; David and Tyndall Light of San Angelo, Texas; 5 grandchildren; Clara Jean Light, Walter Davis Light, Brandon Scott Albro, Joseph Aaron Albro and Hannah Elizabeth Albro; a sister; Sandra Myers of Lexington, NC, a number of nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law; Faye Burgess of Morganton, NC; and a Special brother-in-law; Joseph and Susanne of Morganton, NC.
