After attending school at Orangeburg County Schools, he went on to pursue a career in construction. Wilbur worked for many companies during his life time and dedicated himself for over 40 years of service.
A loving husband to Peggy U. Bair, Wilbur was a cornerstone of strength and support for his family. Together they raised a loving daughter Kathy. He was a devoted father, offering love, support, and guidance. Wilbur was especially fond of his son-in-law John who helped him work on his projects and offered support whenever needed. He loved family and friends gatherings, especially when food was involved.
Wilbur had many hobbies in life from raising Dalmatians, lawn care, fishing, watching wrestling (with his wrestling friends (Billy, Tommy, Boyd, Ron, Bet, Matthew and Chris)), helping others, and riding motorcycles. Wilbur most loved hobby was the open road. He would ride his Gold Wings and/or Harley’s all over the USA with friends and loved ones. One of Wilbur’s passions was going to Daytona and Myrtle Beach each year for bike week where he would spend time with friends and enjoy the fellowship of other bikers.
Wilbur was raised a master mason in Dantzler Lodge #318 on March 3, 1987 and was an active member for 38 plus years. Wilbur was also an active member of OMAR Shrine for 35 plus years. He was a member of the Edisto Shrine Club where he served as 1st vice president on numerous occasions. Wilbur helped with all the cooking and fund raisers he could.
