William Thomas McPherson, Jr., of the Canaan Community, Cope, S. C. passed away Monday, August 19, 2024, from a long-term health condition.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Covenant Baptist Church, 2310 Cannon Bridge Road, Cordova S. C. The casket will be placed in the church an hour prior to the service. Rev. Scott Alewine will be officiating. Burial will follow at the McPherson Family Cemetery, Canaan Community, Cannon Bridge Road in Cope, S. C.
The family will receive friends at the residence and at Thompson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel,1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg, S. C. from 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M.
Mr. McPherson was born on August 5, 1956, in Lamar, S. C. He was the son of the late William Thomas McPherson, Sr. and the late Frances Louise Amerson Watford. Mr. McPherson served his country in the United States Navy, where he was a veteran of the Vietnam War as a Submarine Helmsman, was a South Carolina Licensed Contractor and a farmer.
He is survived by his wife Christina Neville McPherson of the home; daughters Jennifer Marguerite (Rusty) Bonnette of Orangeburg, Elizabeth Grace McPherson of the Canaan Community; son, William McPherson, III of the Canaan Community; three grandchildren, Aubri (Alex) Grubbs of Bolentown, Russ (Karleigh) Bonnette of Myrtle Beach, Alli (Mason Strock) Bonnette of Bolentown; two great-grandchildren, Greyson Wayne Strock of Bolentown, Ashton Grubbs of Bolentown; brothers, William Travis (Sherry) McPherson of Dallas Texas; Archie McPherson of Columbia, Craig McPherson of the Canaan Community, Travis (Jennifer) Smoak of the Canaan Community; Stepmother, Beverly McPherson of the Canaan Community.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rusty Bonnette, Russ Bonnette, Archie McPherson, Mason Strock, Travis Smoak, William T. McPherson, III, Craig McPherson, T. C. Sanford.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Dunn, Dr. Bob Varn, Rusty Weeks, Tracy Tyner, Roger Breland, Brice McPherson, Men of Covenant Baptist Church.
