Alexander "Papoo" Cave, Sr. Obituary

Alexander Blanchard “Papoo” Cave, Sr., 83, of Neeses, S.C. passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Two-Mile Swamp Baptist Church in Cope, S.C.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  Rev. Dr. Cecil Cave will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers will be Thom Garrick, Tony Garrick, Steve Creech, Devin Bair, Eric Williams, Michael Williams, Todd Garrick and Tim Garrick.

Alexander was born on December 5, 1935 in Barnwell County.  He was the son of the late Cecil R. Cave and the late Lila Mae (Dehay) Cave. He graduated from Orangeburg High School in 1954.  He joined the United States Air Force and served as a military police from 1954-1958.  During high school and after leaving the military he worked for Bon Air Drive-In Theater.  He was also employed with Gerwill Poultry Company and later retired from Culler Poultry in Orangeburg, S.C.  Mr. Alexander was a member of Two-Mile Swamp Baptist Church where he served as the Sunday School Director for nine years.  He loved spending time with his family and hanging out with his grandchildren.  He had a love for daylilies and working in his yard.  He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Kathryn Elaine Garrick Cave and a brother, Leonard Edward Cave.

He is survived by his four children, Penny Cave (Don) of Neeses, Alexander “Alec” Blanchard Cave, Jr. (Lisa) of Neeses, Valerie Cave Strock (James) of North, Janet Melinda Cave of Orangeburg; eight grandchildren, seven are here and Chrissy Kaylene Baughman is an angel in heaven; two brothers, Cecil R. Cave, Jr. of Winston Salem, N.C., Phillip V. Cave of Orangeburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a sincere thank you to Grove Park Hospice and their nurses, Vicki, Danille and Tammy.
