Allen Hopkins Obituary

Allen Hopkins, 70, of Lexington passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 after an extended illness.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, 4830 Columbia Road, Orangeburg.  His uncle, Rev. Buddy Amerson of Hartsville, S.C. will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hopkins, Logan Givens, Travis Slaughter, Trace Selfridge, Colby Hopkins, Jason McKissick, Eric Nettles and Thomas Gibson.

Allen was born in Hartsville, S.C.  He was the son of the late W.A. Hopkins and the late Dorothy Amerson Herring.  Allen served in the United States Marines where he was a Purple Heart recipient from the Vietnam War.  Over the years Allen worked for Pepsi, Coburg Dairy, Merita Bread Company and Flowers Baking Company.  He is predeceased by his parents and a brother, Andrew “Andy” Hopkins of Blythewood, S.C.  

He leaves behind his four children, Dana (Travis) Slaughter of Thomaston, GA, Allyson Hopkins of Lexington, S.C., Christopher “Chris” (Cary) Hopkins of Cordova, S.C., Tara “Brat” (Jason) McKissick of Gaston, S.C.; brothers, Larry Hopkins of Bishopville, S.C., Reggie Hopkins of Sumter, S.C., Mitchell Hopkins of Lake City, S.C.; sister, Rhonda Hopkins Page of Columbia, S.C.; numerous adored grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
