Angela Jay Rast

Funeral services with Military Honors for Angela Jay Rast 63 who entered into eternal rest on the 29th of May, 2021.  A visitation and the memorial service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home in Orangeburg, SC from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Saturday the 12th of June 2021.  Burial services will beheld at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or Wounded Warriors.

Ms. Rast was a postal worker in Charleston, SC for 25 years, before that she was employed by NASA Marshall Space Flight Center Hunt in Huntsville, Alabama.  She is a veteran of both the United States Navy and Army.

Ms. Rast was born in Bowman, SC, a daughter of the late William Gordon and Bessie Ann (Collins) Rast.  

She is survived by her brother Timothy D. Rast (Suzanne); daughter Hollis Rhea Lawrence Sturkie; son Andrew Michael Lawrence and four grandchildren (Hannah Cheyann Betsill, Savannah Brooke Betsill, Caleb William Breaux, Marlee Maria Sturkie and nieces and nephews.  Rast was preceded in death by her brothers William Lide Rast (Sandra) and Lee Gordon Rast (Bernice) and Rachael Ann Rast.

While my heart is broken, I have many wonderful memories of my cousin Angie.I would have to share most of them in private. My thoughts and prayers are with my family.  Please know that Donna and I love you guys very much and are here if you need anything at all. God Bless

Angela, this is Dixie, I was married to Buddy Wiles, Lide's bestfriend  growing up. .To the family of Angela, we loss contact  for many years as we served i n the ministry. I amnow in Greenwood,S.C.,Buddy died in 2009 andis buried in Bowman cemetary. I remarried in  2013 to a man from M anning,S.C., whose wife died and she was my first cousin, who I grew up with so he was no stranger. I still play piano for church and other activities. So sorry our family got so separated by miles, to the family, my condolences. May God give you peace and comfort.  Dixie Wiles Stujkes.
