Betty “Jean” Milhouse, widow of Tommy Milhouse, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024, surrounded by her family.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2720 Broughton Street, Orangeburg. Eddie Bonnette will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.
Honored to serv as pallbearers are Timmy Weeks, Terry Weeks, Scotty Scott, Stephen Axson, Tommy Scott and Nick Cole.
Mrs. Jean was the daughter of the late Thomas Benton and the late Marie Griffis Benton. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Cope. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, traveling, especially to the beach and eating seafood. She was lovingly known to her grandchildren as “Grandma Jean.” Her family brought her the greatest joy. Her memory will forever be cherished by those that loved her.
Survivors include her children, Michael Milhouse, Windy Ginn (Frank); grandchildren, Brittney Amaker, Jessica Williams (Barrett), Trista Bishop (Cody); great-grandchildren, Caydence Amaker, Bobby Amaker, Jr., Colby Williams, Clay Williams and another on the way, Wren Bishop); son-in-law, Bobby Furtick; sister, Tommie Scott (Eddie Bonnette); brother, Fred Benton and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Cindy Milhouse Furtick, a grandson, Corey Joe Furtick, a sister, Mickey Hughes and a sister-in-law, Patricia Benton.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Tommie Scott, Eddie Bonnette, Melanie Smoak, Maria and Hal Douglas, the staff of MUSC Orangeburg and Dr. Vann Beth Shuler for the love, care and support to the family that were given during Mrs. Jean’s illness.
