Charles Edward Fairchild, Sr., 80, of Cope S.C.  passed away at home on Thursday, October 12, 2023, with his family by his side. 

Mr. Fairchild was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather “Poppy”. He retired from Carolina Visuals in Smoaks, SC  after more than 50 years of service.  Charles was skilled in building, welding, sewing and overseeing the making of industrial flags. 

Mr. Fairchild was born in Rome, GA to the late Willie Edward Fairchild and the late Annie Reynolds Fairchild.  When raising his family, He was very involved in mentoring, whether by being a Sunday school teacher, a RA leader, singing in the choir or coaching a softball/baseball team.   He enjoyed hunting, fishing and planting a garden, but his favorite pastime was being a husband, father, and a “Poppy.”

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Joan Marie Fairchild; four children, Brad Fairchild (Kelli), Brandi Conley (Wayne), Charles Fairchild, Jr. (Bobbi), Elizabeth Fairchild; ten grandchildren Keleigh and Sidney Fairchild, Jessica and River Conley (Katelynn), Delana and Grayson Fairchild, Zachery, Alex and Gracie Mishoe, Brianna Kovach (Roger) and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. at St. George Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, where he has been a member for more than 15 years.
