David Linder Obituary

David Edward Linder, 76, of Orangeburg passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, after a brief illness.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at St. John United Methodist Church, Hwy 301, Orangeburg.  Rev. Marie Ray, Rev. Lois Helms and Pastor Steve Scott will be officiating.

Mr. Linder was born on May 20, 1947, in Smoaks, S.C.  He was the son of the late Harold O. Linder and the late Kathleen Butler Linder.  He was a 1966 graduate of Orangeburg High School.  He served his country in the United Sates Army where he was stationed for two years in Germany as a cook.  He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church on Bamberg Road for over 59 years.  He served on various committees and would lend a hand when needed.  Mr. Linder was an avid reader.  He also was a lifetime blood donor, and he gave over THIRTY GALLONS to the Orangeburg area.  His passion was bowling.  He was a permanent fixture at the All-Star Lanes in Orangeburg.  He would eat, sleep and breathe bowling.  Mr. Linder also loved watching Atlanta Braves baseball and the U.S.C. Gamecocks.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eileen Linder.

Survivors include his sister, Deborah “Debbie” Linder Constance (Toby) of Mauldin; nephew, Chris McIver of Orangeburg; special friends, CeCe Martin, Jerry and Anita Martin, Robert Martin, Sandy Atkinson, the congregations of St. Johns United Methodist Church and Bowman First Baptist Church, Pastor Steve Scott and a number of extended family and friends.
