James and Ann I'm so very sorry for your loss. My parents, Doyle and Hercules Rutland, loved being with your mom and Mitchum. I did also. I can remember her trip with Mitchum to my house in Texas. They travelled with my kids who had a McDonalds stop in every town along the way. As a child I remember visits to your home at the drive inn theater. My brother Robert was more your age. My grandparents lived in Orangeburg and my mom always visited with Aunt Ruby when we were there and also with your mom and dad. Your mom kept in touch with my mother "Herk" until she died a few years back. My prayers are with you all. She was a wonderful very independent woman.

James and Ann, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. She was always such a sport putting up with us kids and truly a hard worker. She sure loved you two.

I wanted to reach out to you during this sad time to offer my condolences. While nothing will completely take away your grief, by meditating on God’s promises found in the Bible, you can find real hope and the strength to keep going. I have found the scripture at Isaiah 25:8 to be especially comforting. Here it promises that God "will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces."

Ann, I am so sorry to learn of your mother's passing. I always enjoyed talking to her when I would see her at the functions at the Elks Lodge or at restaurants with friends. I will be thinking of you Wednesday with sympathy.
