George “Mike” Michael Jackson, 65, of Cordova passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 23, 2023.
Mike was born in Winter Haven, FL to the late George E. Jackson and the late Kathleen Woods Jackson. After graduating high school, he entered the United States Army where he served overseas as a border patrol at the Berlin Wall. He has been employed for over fourteen years with the Department of Public Utilities as a Water Treatment Operator. He attended Journey Church in Orangeburg. Mike had a love for the outdoors. He was the current President of the Mid-Carolina Gun Club; he was a member of the Broken Arrow Archery Club. He volunteered with SCDNR teaching hunter’s education classes and CWP classes. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Debra Bowers.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Cynthia “Cindy” Long Jackson; sons, J.E.B. Jackson, G.W. Jackson, Douglas Jackson; six grandchildren and two nieces.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, 4830 Columbia Road, Orangeburg with military honors. Pastor Cindy Williams will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Dillon Maxwell, Conrad Smith, Doug Baldwin, Mike Young, Robert McCollum and Julian Cumbee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike’s hunting buddies and the members of the Broken Arrow Archery Club and the members if the Mid-Carolina Gun Club.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
