Gwendolyn “Elaine” Harrison Neese, 80, of Cope passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
Mrs. Neese was born on October 4, 1943, in Charleston, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie H. Harrison, Jr. and the late Leona Bessinger Harrison. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Orangeburg. Mrs. Neese worked for many years with Zeus Industries as an inspector until her retirement. After retirement she was able to enjoy reading, and solving word search puzzles but the thing that brought her the most joy was being outside.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Miles Felder “Jimmy” Neese of Cope; son, Kerry W. Neese (Belle) of Cope; daughter, Crystal N. Thompson (John) of Alcolu; grandchildren, Kerry W. “Bubba” Neese, Abigail R. Thompson, Mary Blume Godwin, Ben Thompson (Sara), Cristal Breeden (Shane); five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine “Katie” Turner.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg. Rev. Larry Williams will be officiating. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, 4830 Columbia Road, Orangeburg.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 7, 2024, prior to the funeral service.
