Hannah (Robertson) Merritt

Hannah Robertson Merritt, 52, of Orangeburg, S.C. passed away peacefully on January 25, 2023, following a brief illness.

Hannah was born on October 8, 1970, in Greenwood, S.C. In 1974, Hannah moved with her mother to Columbia, SC where she attended Lexington Richland 5 schools.  After graduating from Sloan School, Hannah went to Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology where she received her license in Master Hair Care.  She began her career in Irmo at the Cutting Point, under the direction of Joel and Juanita Wilson, and enjoyed the work family that was fostered there for ten years.  She then moved to Orangeburg and has worked at Tommy’s Barber Shop for the last 20 years alongside Brenna Kinard, who became like a second mother to her.

She will be remembered for her incredible work ethic, humongous heart, free spirit, and her love of animals.  She was selfless and would do anything for anybody, as long as it brought a smile to their face.  Her love for her children was immense.  She was always there for them.  She will forever be missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Hope Watson of Atlanta, Seth Watson of Colorado, Alex Merritt of St. George, Abby Merritt of Orangeburg; grandson, Noah Sparks; granddaughter, Sophia Adams; mother, Pamela A. Holcombe of Beaufort; sister, Heather Bundy (Bob) of Beaufort; brother, Chris Holcombe of Columbia; stepsister, Sharon Klinck of GA; special friend, Vince Benfield; fur babies, “Tee Tiny”, “Misu”, “Blue”, “Toby,” “Tango,” an aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews, and an abundance of friends. She is predeceased by her father Jimmy D. Robertson of GA and stepfather Jim Holcombe of SC.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Thompson Funeral Home, 1012 Whitman Street Southeast, Orangeburg.  Rev. Alan Woodward will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Thompson Funeral Home prior to the service.
