James “Jim” Parler, Sr. Obituary

James “Jim” A. Parler, Sr., 82, husband of Betty Williams Parler, of Elloree passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was the middle child of Alexander Robert Parler, Sr. and Dorothy Hennies Parler of Elloree. He loved the beach, deer hunting, reading, the South Carolina Gamecocks and spending time with his family.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elloree and served in the National Guard. He retired from the engineering department from Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital of Columbia. 

A Celebration of Life for Jim (Pappy) will be held Sunday, October 1, 2023 at 3:00 P.M.  at the First Baptist Church of Elloree. Family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. 

Survivors include his wife of the home; children, Robert Ward Parler (Shelby) of Jasper, Texas, James “Jay” A. Parler, Jr. (April) of Elloree, SC, and William Daniel Parler (Keri) of Elloree, SC; grandchildren, Alexander Myles Parler (Jessica), Charles Tate Parler (Brandy), Andrew Shane Parler, Chandler Lanier Kilgus, Savannah Eileen Henry, Lauren Chandler Pifer, Bryce Alexander Parler (Madison), Harrison Freeman Kilgus, Robert Cole Parler, Gavin Wesley Parler, Gracin Carolyn Parler and Cael Brunson Parler and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Alexander Robert Parler, Jr. (Janice) of Orangeburg, a sister, Dr. Jane Parler Norwood (Buddy) of Charlotte, NC, and one niece, DeDe Bolt (James) of Laurens, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his honor to the cemetery fund of the First Baptist Church of Elloree.
