Jimmy Chavis, 66, of Orangeburg passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg. Burial will follow at Smoak Cemetery, off of Cannon Bridge Road, Cordova. Pastor Robby Croft will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Mikie Smoak, Wayne Hutchins, Daniel Pensel, Ricky Thompson, Jayden Smoak, Hank McCollum and Steve Brabham.
Jimmy was born in Orangeburg, S.C. He was the son of the late Arthur Chavis and the late Myree Binnicker Chavis. He retired from the City of Orangeburg as a firefighter. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arthur Chavis.
Survivors include his daughter, Tiffany Smoak (Mikie)of Branchville; grandchildren, Jayden Smoak, Kinsley Smoak both of Branchville and a number of aunts, uncles, and additional family and friends.
Memorials may be made in Jimmy’s memory to the Shriners Children’s Hospital at 950 W Faris Road Greenville, S.C. 29605.
