John William Gaskins

John William Gaskins, beloved husband and father, went to be with his Lord and Savior early Monday morning on September 9, 2019. He was born in Orangeburg on October 24, 1949 to Dossie Russell Gaskins and Lillian Parrott Gaskins. He lived most of his early life in Branchville where he was active in all sports, football, basketball, baseball and bowling.

An avid hunter, fisherman and a die-hard Gamecock fan. He retired from Albemarle Corporation. He loved spending enjoyable times with family, friends and travelling, especially to the beach. He was dedicated to his entire family, honest, dependable and loved the Lord unconditionally.

John is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Gaskins; sons, Judson R. Martin and Jonathan R. Gaskins (Alex); siblings, Olivia Hughes, David Gaskins (Gayle), Melissa Jones and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Dossie Russell Gaskins; sisters, Carolyn Campbell and Mary Gaskins.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. prior to the memorial service.

John will always be remembered for his faith, kind heart, gentleness, love of family, and his Gamecocks.
