Margaret "Maggie" Moore Obituary

Mrs. Margaret “Maggie” Moore, 85, of Orangeburg, S.C. passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 10, 2022, at New Hope Baptist Church, 4000 Riverbank Dr, Orangeburg.  Rev. Henry Cooper and Dr. Billy O. Hurst will be officiating.  Burial will be held at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 10, 2022, at New Hope Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Matthew Cregger, Cliff Carter, Chris Moore, Adam Carter, John Strickland, Devon Moore and Ethan Strickland.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Moore was born on January 31, 1936, in Marshall, N.C.  She was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Eason Thomas and Bertha Mae Capps Thomas; two brothers, Robert E. Thomas, Calvin J. Thomas; five sisters, Juanita Bowens, Mary Frances Dorato, Georgia Sprouse, Agnes Wilson and Glennis Council.  Mrs. Moore enjoyed cooking and preparing her children’s favorite dishes.  She was also very active in the Upfront Breast Cancer Support Group.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Maurice “Reese” S. Moore of the home; daughter, Sheila Ann Cregger and husband Morris of Columbia; son, Harry Dean Sprouse and wife Dafna of Mooresville, N.C.; two step-children, Chris Moore and wife Beth of Irmo, S.C., Jennifer Moore of Columbia, S.C.; grandson, Matthew Clayton Cregger and wife Mary of Irmo, S.C.; two step-grandsons, Devon Moore of Columbia, S.C. and Ethan Strickland of Orangeburg; four great-grandsons, Luke, Caleb, Cooper and Levi Cregger of West Columbia, S.C. and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the staff from Edisto Home Care and Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Maggie during her final weeks.
