Michael “Tony” Anthony O’Cain passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 29, 2023. He was born on August 29, 1986, in Orangeburg, SC. Michael was a beloved son, brother, father, and friend.
Michael was a fun-loving and outgoing individual who never met a stranger. He had a passion for sports and was an avid USC Gamecock, Carolina Panthers, and Atlanta Braves fan. In his free time, Michael enjoyed shooting pool and flying as the “co-pilot” of small airplanes.
Michael is survived by his mother, Amanda Dukes O’Cain; brother, Mark O'Cain (Charlene); daughter, Madalynn "Maddi" Grace O'Cain; nieces, Miaya and Skylar O’Cain; paternal grandmother, Patricia "Pat" O'Cain; maternal grandmother, LaDelle Dukes; uncles, Russell O'Cain (Sherry) and Howard O'Cain (Mary); special aunts, Nancy Cole (Gary) and Sandy Lewack (Steve); and a number of additional family and special friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael E. O'Cain; paternal grandfather, Glenn O'Cain, Sr.; maternal grandfather, Carroll Dukes; uncle, Melvin Dukes; and maternal great-grandparents, Melvin and Grace Daye.
Michael was a Highway Maintenance Worker III - Specialized Equipment Operator with over 15 years of dedicated service with SCDOT. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee who made significant contributions to the organization.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Thompson's Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Embark Church located at 3600 Columbia Rd, Orangeburg, SC 29118.
Pallbearers will be Russell O'Cain, Howard O'Cain, Jonathan May, Mitchell Baker, Robin Rowell, Joshua Gray, Jamie Gray and William Fersner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Pocket Nine's and The Unfortunates.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial tributes be made to Toys for Tots or a charity of your choice.
