Nazroe Chavis, 83, of Orangeburg passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Veteran Village in Florence, S.C. with his daughter, family and friends by his side.
Mr. Chavis was born in Neeses, S.C. on March 17, 1941, to the late Sam Chavis and the late Eualena Jackson Chavis. He served his country and retired from the United States Army. He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his daughter, Pam Chavis Toombs (Antonio); son, Richard Chavis; grandchildren, Natalie Nelums, Eric Hughey, Deshawn Hughey; great-granddaughter, Gianna Hughey and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his favorite sister, Mamie Weaver and an older sister and brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel prior to the funeral service.
Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia with full military honors.
