Randall Dempsey Obituary

Randall Lee Dempsey, 76, of Cope passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, surrounded by his family.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Canaan Baptist Church, 4977 Cannon Bridge Road, Cope with military honors.  Pastor Gale Black will be officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.

Mr. Randall was born on December 20, 1947, in Spartanburg, S.C.  He was the son of the late Willie Dempsey and the late Myrtle E. Green Dempsey.  Randall served his country in the United States Army.  He was a decorated Vietnam War veteran receiving a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.  Randall was a welder by trade and was formerly employed with Shaw Construction.  Once he retired, he enjoyed fishing, camping, and doing yard work.  He also enjoyed riding dirt bikes with his grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Annie Jean Kittrell Dempsey, brothers, Lonnie Dempsey, Buford Campbell, Oliver Campbell and a sister, Mary D. Bates.

Survivors include his brother, Ronnie Dempsey (Rose); son, Keith Elliott (Sherrill); grandson, Randall “Randy” Elliott (Tiffany); great-grandchildren, Arianna Elliott, Shellie Elliott, Landon Elliott; a special niece, Sandy D. Elliott (Chad) and special nephews, Mark Dempsey (Michele), Ricky Dempsey (Anna) and many additional close friends.
