Rev. Rita (Lang) Gartman

Rev. Rita Lang Gartman departed this life to start life eternal with her Lord and Savior on May 19, 2019. Born on June 2, 1947 in Blackville, S.C. to Rev. J.S and Bessie Lang. At an early age she gave her life to God and would answer his calling upon her life in 1967 to the ministry. She served in roles such as an evangelist, pastor and as an associate pastor at various churches throughout her life. In November of 1971 she met the Love of her life,  Bobby Gartman, and on February 4, 1972 she became his wife. Through these 47 years they endured the highs and lows of life, remained faithful to one another and were hand in hand until the end. From this marriage they were blessed with three children. Mama’s life was forever changed. Her pride and joy was her children, she was our protector, counselor motivator but most importantly our prayer warrior.

Left to carry on are her husband Bobby Gartman, Sr. of the home; children, Bobby Gartman Jr. of Orangeburg, Rebecca (Delfino) Garcia of West Columbia and Chris (Missi) Gartman of Bamberg; ten grandchildren, Kayla, Savannah, Kyle, Andrew, Jaysen, Alexis, Michael, Tabitha, Connor and Noah; three great- grands, Kamiah, Kendall and Janiah; brothers; Rev. Robert Lang, Rev. Richard Lang, Rev. Dewey Lang; sisters, Mary Croft and Patsy Cheverie. She was predeceased and greeted at Heaven’s gates by her parents,  one sister, Ruby Crocker and brothers E.J, Ted, Oliver and Leon Lang.

Mama was a member of Victory Hill Church of God, she loved her church and her church family. The void now left in our lives will be filled with our memories and the fact that forever more you will be in the presence of the Lord. No more worries, sickness or burdens to bare.  Enjoy Heaven now mama your purpose here is done. We will pick up the mantel and carry it on until we are all together again. Those words you have awaited so long to hear have finally been spoken, “Well done thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

Serving as Pallbearers be Michael Gartman, Connor Gartman, Delfino Garcia, Andrew Garcia, Brian Gartman, Curt Hall and Kevin Griffith.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Victory Hill Church of God, 127 Southwest Circle, Cordova from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be at held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Victory Hill Church of God, 127 Southwest Circle, Cordova.  Reverend Michael Crocker and Reverend Andrew Baxley will be officiating.

The family will gather at the Home of Daniel and Nancy Gartman, 161 Harvey in Orangeburg SC.
