Robert C. “Bobby” Chilton, Jr., 42, of Eutawville, SC, died early Wednesday morning, May 12, 2021, following a brief illness, with his loving parents at his side.
Affectionately known as Bobby, he was born on August 31, 1978, and was the only child of Robert C. “Bob” Chilton, Sr. and Linda Cook Chilton. From birth, Bobby faced many health challenges and was only expected to survive a short time, with medical expectation of never being able to talk or walk. It wasn’t long before medical professionals were amazed at his progress, and over the years, Bobby continued to awe countless people with his intelligence, humor, but more importantly, his genuine love for his parents and all those he knew. Bobby called the shots, from the time of his diagnosis, until the moment he slipped away. In fact, mere hours before leaving this world, he commented, “I’m going to Heaven today” and asked for his parents’ hands. As they fell asleep holding each other, Bobby chose that moment to slip away. Bobby’s life has touched the lives of many. His time on earth etched an indelible mark upon the hearts of those who knew him and loved him. His radiant smile and gentle touch will never be forgotten.
It was Bobby’s wish to continue to be an inspiration to others, and chose to donate his body as an anatomical gift to the MUSC Body Donation Program. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those wishing may make memorial contributions to MSA Hospice, 110 Express Lane, Orangeburg, SC 29118-2477.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Carolyn (Jeff) Butler of Athens, GA, and Mary Margaret (Jeff) Warshaw of Dunwoody, Ga; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; and his faithful companions, Beau and Princess.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at three o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 13th day of June, 2021, at 103 Pine Ridge Road, Eutawville, SC 29048, with Christopher Nettles, RN, officiating, with remarks given by Joe Lynn Mallios, LPN. Musical selections will be rendered by Christopher Nettles, RN. The family is pleased to greet friends immediately following the service.
From Bobby’s Parents: We are so honored God would choose us to love and care for such a beautiful gift from Heaven. From the beginning of our journey together until the time we had to let go, it has been an amazing journey full of laughter and of love. Until we meet again, our dear boy, we love you now and always. Love, Mama and Daddy
