Theodore Wilder Obituary

Theodore Lawton Wilder, 75, of Orangeburg passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, after a brief illness.  Theodore was born on January 19, 1948, in Bamberg, S.C.  He was the son of the late Lawton Wilder and the late Lucile Tager Felder.

Theodore was a spirited soul who believed in a hard days work and a good time with family and friends. He celebrated life through his passion for Gamecock football, all things baseball, playing golf with friends, and shagging to Carolina Beach Music.  He had a generous heart that touched many. He hosted countless charity golf tournaments for those in need and enjoyed coaching numerous youth baseball teams. He is credited with starting the first travel baseball team in the Orangeburg area.

Five days before his 76th birthday, Theodore traded his dancefloor rhythm and servant’s heart for a seat at the Lord’s table where he can finally rest easy. May his zest for life be remembered and emulated by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Greene Wilder of the home; children, Theodore “Ted” L. Wilder, Jr. (Charlene) of San Marcus, TX, Allen B. Wilder (Shannon) of Lake Wateree, S.C., Sabrina Hobby, Jennifer Wilder both of Orangeburg, S.C.; grandchildren, Grace Wilder, Lydia Wilder, Josh Wilder, Ryan Wilder, Stephen Wilder, Savanna Crouch, Ellie Prince, Austin Hobby, Lilly Ann Wilder; two great-granddaughters, Caroline Hobby, Gracie Hobby; two step-daughters, Tracy Glover (John), Lana Russell (Jason); brother, Tim Felder (Misty); sister, Myrtle Smith and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Larry Wilder, a sister, Debra Vinson and a stepson, Larry Davis, Jr.
