Thomas "Billy" Stroman, Jr. Obituary

Thomas W. (Billy) Stroman, Jr.  73 of Orangeburg returned to his heavenly home on October 22, 2019 after a valiant battle with a long illness.

His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his strength and ultimately gave him peace.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 25, 2019 at White House United Methodist Church; 3571 Five Chop Road, Orangeburg, SC with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Mike Written will be officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Hugo Valentine, Matt Proctor, Laurence Hutto, Austin Stroman, Tom Hutto, Freddie Axson and J.T. Axson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Members of White House friendship Sunday School Class.

Billy was born September 22, 1946 to the late Thomas and the late Ida Belle Perry Stroman. Billy was a graduate of Orangeburg High School. A lifetime member of White House United Methodist Church where he served as President of the Men’s Club, Secretary/Treasurer of Sunday School. He studied to be lay leader at church,  he was on the Administrative Council, Pastor Parish Committee and Trustee. He served as Chaplain for Four Holes Fire Department until his health declined. He was a member of Orangeburg Lions Club and a former Gideon and member of the Shibboleth Masonic Lodge #28. He was a Counselor on WPJF. Billy was a proud retired employee of SC Department of Highways and Public Transportation. After retirement he worked part time for one of his special friends Mike Pooser at Pooser’s Service Center of Orangeburg. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Eddie Stroman Hutto, Mother and Father-in-law, BB and Colette Proctor, brother-in-law, Fred Axson.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Proctor Stroman of the home, daughter, Jennifer Till (Richard) of Irmo; son Thomas “Tommy” Stroman III (Alicia) of Orangeburg and grandson Parker Stroman of Orangeburg, his brother, Jim (Diane) Stroman of Columbia, brother-in-law; John L. Hutto of Holly Hill, brother-in-law, Bruce (Laynette) Proctor of Cope, sisters-in-laws, Joyce Proctor Axson of Orangeburg,  Diane (Donald) Dukes of North and a number of nieces and nephews.
