Thomas "Tommy" Edward Johnson, Sr.

Thomas “Tommy” Edward Johnson, Sr., 73, of Orangeburg passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Tommy was born in Charleston, S.C. to the late Tillman McLaurin Johnson and the late Mae Wannamaker Johnson. Tommy worked for Holcim Cement Plant for 27 years.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Cecilia Ayers Johnson; sons, Thomas Johnson, Jr. (Susan), Donald Johnson (Kim); daughters, Kristy Kitchen (Chad), Rhonda Smith (Steven); grandchildren, Kyle Kitchen, Danielle Axson (Stephen), Taylor Kitchen, Brad Johnson, Walker Johnson, Hampton Smith, Anna Cecilia Smith, Hunter Smith; great-grandchildren, Brunson Hair, Brayden Hair, Bryce Hair; sisters, Betty Vandervort, Peggie Halter, and Nancy New.

Mr. Johnson was predeceased by his brothers, Mac Johnson, Michael W. Kemmerlin, Eugene Kemmerlin, Jr.; sisters, Nell Huiett, Mary Lee Adicks, Louise Berry, Lou Esther Browning.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., at Bethel United Methodist Church, 4307 Charleston Hwy., Orangeburg, S. C. Visitation is at 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 at the church. Reverend Newton Wannamaker will be officiating the service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ricky Wagers, Stephen Axson, Amit Sanghi, Brian Axson, Brett Hair, and Orin Ulichnie.
