Vernon William “Jr.” McGugan, Jr. gained his wings the morning of Friday, August 11, 2023, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
He was born on October 29, 1973. He was the son of the late Vernon William McGugan, Sr. and Lillian Morris McGugan. He was the baby of five children.
“Jr.” attended North High School and went on to pursue his career in heating and air. He spent the last thirty plus years in the industry and loved serving the community since his first ride alongside his dad at eight years old. He was known throughout the Orangeburg community with his time at Lenair Wolfe Company and was employed at Jennings Heating and Air when he fell ill and was diagnosed with N.A.S.H.
When “Jr.” wasn’t serving our community, you could find him at the nearest fishing hole or ballfield. His passion for baseball ran deep and heavily influenced his children through the years. He was quite an angler as well. His most favorite pastime was near the water, casting a line with his family. Anyone that knew him knew he bragged on his kids often, loved his family unconditionally, loved a good haunted house and watching ultimate fighting competitions.
“Jr.” is survived by his life partner, Adrianne Scott; his four children, Devin Evans, Hayden McGugan, Jordan McGugan, Braelynn McGugan; siblings, Linda (David) Parris, Vernon “Ricky” (Carolyn) McGugan, Randy (Susie) McGugan, Mary (Mark) Baker; best friend, Rob Gillespie; seven nieces and nephews; eleven great-nieces and great-nephews plus a host of loving family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel prior to the memorial service.
