Virginia C. Hewitt, 81, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Canaan Baptist Church in Cope. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Alan Woodward and Rev. Charles Bradley will be officiating.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Canaan Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Michael Dukes, Doc Adams, Ted Crosby, Gerald Smoak, Vince Whetsell and John Reed.
Mrs. Hewitt was born on July 14, 1936 in Orangeburg, S.C. She was the daughter of the late J.P. Crosby and the late Ruth Griffith Crosby. She was the co-owner of Sunrise Mobile Home and Transport. Mrs. Virginia was a member of the Elk Does where she served as president for many years as well as the State Does president. She was a Lady Shriner with the Edisto Shrine Club. She was predeceased by her brothers, James Crosby, Frank Crosby and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Padgett.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Hewitt of the home; children, DeWayne Padgett of Orangeburg; Robin Tillery of Rock Hill; step-children, Eddie Hewitt (Jessica) of Branchville, Pam Hughes (Hank) of Bowman, Teressa Dukes (Earl, III) of Newport, N.C.; grandson, Jackie DeWayne “D.J.” Padgett, Jr.; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
